Onboarding Your AWS Accounts
This guide walks you through the process of onboarding your AWS accounts to CloudKeeper Tuner, enabling you to start optimizing your cloud costs and resources.
Step 1: Access Accounts to Onboard in Tuner
After logging into your CloudKeeper portal, switch to the Tuner tab from the side panel.
From here, navigate to Accounts to see the list of accounts linked to your organization.
To onboard an account, click the Onboard Account button next to it. This will open the Account Onboarding page where you configure permissions and setup.
Step 2: Account Onboarding Options
On the onboarding page, configure the access levels and account type:
-
Access Levels:
- Recommendation → Enables Tuner to analyze and provide optimization suggestions.
- Scheduler → Allows you to automate start/stop times for non-production resources.
- SpotBot → Automates cost savings on ECS Fargate workloads by using Spot Instances.
-
Account Type:
Choose between Production or Non-Production.
Updating the “Account” tag helps Tuner refine cost recommendations, ensuring suggestions are appropriate for the environment.
Click Continue to proceed.
Step 3: Choose Your Onboarding Method
Tuner offers two ways to onboard your accounts:
Automated Onboarding (Recommended)
The simplest and fastest method.
You’ll run a CloudFormation template provided by Tuner, which automatically sets up the necessary roles and permissions.
This option minimizes effort and speeds up onboarding.
Manual Onboarding
If you need full control or have strict security requirements, you can follow a step-by-step manual setup.
This provides maximum flexibility and customization over account integration.
Step 4: Leverage Tuner for Smarter Cloud Optimization
Once the account is connected:
- Go to the Recommendations tab.
- Review the actionable insights generated by Tuner.
- Implement these recommendations to begin optimizing costs and resources.
Step 5: Browser Extension (Optional, but Recommended)
Install the CloudKeeper-Tuner Browser Extension (available for Chrome and Firefox).
This provides real-time recommendations directly within your AWS Console, eliminating the need to switch tabs.
Steps:
- Install from Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.
- Log in with your CloudKeeper credentials when on AWS Console.
- Access live optimization suggestions while working in AWS.
