Spot Protection

Spot Protection helps optimize cloud infrastructure costs by intelligently utilizing AWS Spot capacity while maintaining workload availability and operational continuity.

Tuner continuously monitors Spot availability, automatically handles interruption events, and balances workloads between Spot and On-Demand capacity to maximize savings with minimal operational effort.

Spot Protection currently supports:

  • EC2 Auto Scaling Groups (ASG)
  • ECS Fargate Workloads
Why Spot Protection?

AWS Spot Instances can provide significant cost savings compared to On-Demand infrastructure. Spot Protection helps safely utilize Spot capacity with automated fallback handling, workload recovery, and savings optimization.

Core Capabilities

Intelligent Spot Optimization

Spot Protection automatically distributes workloads between Spot and On-Demand capacity based on configured workload preferences and infrastructure requirements.

Automatic Fallback Protection

When Spot interruption events occur, Tuner automatically shifts workloads to stable On-Demand capacity to maintain application availability.

Recovery and Rebalancing

Once Spot capacity becomes stable again, workloads are gradually restored back to Spot infrastructure to continue maximizing savings opportunities.

Savings Visibility

Spot Protection provides centralized visibility into:

  • Current infrastructure spend
  • Estimated monthly savings opportunities
  • Savings achieved
  • Spot-enabled resources
  • Workload distribution and utilization

Supported Workloads

EC2 ASG Spot Protection

Enables Spot optimization for EC2 Auto Scaling Groups with configurable Spot and On-Demand distribution, allocation strategies, capacity rebalancing, and automatic fallback handling.

How Spot Protection Works

  1. Tuner identifies eligible workloads for Spot optimization
  2. Users configure Spot and On-Demand workload distribution
  3. Tuner continuously monitors Spot capacity availability
  4. Workloads automatically recover from interruption events
  5. Savings and workload behavior are tracked continuously
