Tagging Conventions

Tagging Conventions help standardize how resources are tagged across your environment.
They ensure consistent tagging practices for better cost allocation, governance, and reporting.

The Tagging Conventions page displays all configured conventions in an expandable list format. Each convention defines how specific resources should be tagged.

Convention Structure​

Each convention contains:

  • Resource Type
    Specifies the AWS resource (e.g., S3 Bucket, EC2)

  • Regions
    Defines where the convention is applicable (e.g., US East - N. Virginia)

  • Keys and Values
    Defines the expected tagging structure:

    • Keys represent tag names (e.g., workload)
    • Values define allowed or expected values (e.g., infra, testing)

Expandable View​

  • Conventions can be expanded or collapsed
  • Expanding a convention reveals:
    • Resource type and region mapping
    • Tag key-value requirements

This makes it easy to:

  • Review tagging standards
  • Validate expected tag structures
  • Compare multiple conventions
